Suggested Preparations before Trips and Tours
of our trips are accessible to paddlers of various abilities. Our instructors are diverse enough to suit the needs of beginners and experienced paddlers alike. Before heading out on the water, we teach you all the basic paddling skills you need to comfortably glide through the trip.

For those who do have experience, our guides are always happy to help polish your technique so that you can become more efficient with your paddling. Many guests who join us for day and half day trips have never paddled before, are unprepared and still end up having a great time. However if you prepare just a little, you are sure to guarantee yourself a great time.

Whether you are a beginner or expert here are a few tips that will help prepare you and make your trip much more enjoyable:

Stretch— your back, your hamstrings (backs of your upper legs), and arms
Light strengthening exercises- sit-ups and push-ups are great exercises to strengthen your torso and shoulder muscles, which are utilized in proper paddling technique
Stretch—spend 15 minutes per day stretching for two weeks prior to your trip
Stay hydrated— drink at least two liters of water per day in the days prior to your trip (the summer sun can easily dehydrate you, it is best to plan ahead)
Mentally prepare yourself to have a great time!

Flexibility is the most important part of preparing for a trip in a sea kayak!
